Aqui nessa vida tão mundana, que é a única que temos, deparamos o paradoxo do sucesso, esse produto que não existe que é vendido a peso de ouro… e são tantos que não existem e vendidos a peso de ouro…
Há alguns dias a indústria do sucesso nos apresentou uma das coisas sem fuga da vida: a morte do ator Gene Hackman, aquele homem másculo padrão de um metro e noventa de altura e que fez tantas coisas legais, tantos filmes legais, inclusive aquele xerife escroto de “Os imperdoáveis”, quando um homem bem comum mete uma 20 nas suas fuças… Isso depois de o xerife dar uma surra antológica no Richard Harris… aquele Homem Chamado Cavalo.
Gene Hackman, um exemplo de sucesso, morreu e quase um mês depois ninguém havia reclamado seu corpo. E ele tinha filhos! Onde estão? Por quê?
E ontem, ou anteontem um ator brasileiro admirável completou 95 anos de idade, Lima Duarte. Vi uma manifestação dele. Parece um homem feliz, os filhos, netos e bisnetos o visitam sempre. Está com o intelecto perfeito. Sabe o que é a vida, ou o que foi a vida. E parece agradecido.
Mundo real
Aqui, no mundo dos mortais comuns, mais comuns do que se possa imaginar, numa parte do Brasil, um imigrante, um colono, um descendente de colonos, o que é? Se não for um artista, vai ser isso que quase todos são hoje…
Meu pai, um desses, foi o homem mais solitário que conheci. Não tinha amigos, falava pouco, não gostava de contato com terceiros, vivia no seu mundo particular (vai saber o que diriam dele se tivesse 16 anos hoje!). Mas era um artista. Escrevia (e não mostrava pra ninguém – teve o cuidado de queimar tudo antes da hora final) tocava vários instrumentos (o principal era o acordeom), cantava e de profissão, nos últimos tempos, foi mecânico industrial.
Ficou doente e eu e mais um irmão e uma irmã cuidamos dele. Eu gostava dele; na minha adolescência, “conheci” ele com uma sociabilidade péssima e, com o passar dos anos, o vi se transformar em um homem delicado que me beijava, seu filho estranho.
Cuidei dele da melhor forma que eu pude. No fim, ele era um tigre dente de sabre, um urso polar, mas dócil e generoso (me deixava cantar desafinado, sem ritmo e me acompanhava assim mesmo).
Boromir ou Faramir?
Aonde estão os filhos de Gene Hackman? As pessoas envelhecem e se tornam cada vez mais dependentes; mesmo os colossos. Mas será que nem todos se redimem? Será que alguns assinam o seu tratado de solidão social extrema? E, pior, social?
Guimarães Rosa repetiu tanto, tanto, “é preciso ter coragem”, “viver, é muito perigoso”.
E é mesmo. Por que, como nos disse aquele estranho Pnin, de Nabokov “nada nos pertence, só a nossa solidão”.
Pnin não teve filhos; mais ou menos solidão?
