Em novembro de 1605 Guy Falkes tentou explodir o parlamento inglês e assassinar o rei da Inglaterra James I por ter dado continuidade à política de fortalecimento do protestantismo iniciada pela rainha Elizabeth I. O plano silencioso quase dá certo, porém Falkes foi detido a meia noite nos porões do Palácio de Westminster prestes a detonar a pólvora.
O 13 de novembro também ficará marcado na história do Brasil e também no Maranhão. Em Brasília um típico bolsonarista protagonizou cenas de tragicomédia numa tentativa de explodir uma estátua na praça dos três poderes, um dos motivos seria o ódio ao comunismo, o “prêmio pela bravura” foi infelizmente a morte e com o número 13 inscrito em sua lápide por toda a eternidade.
Se na capital federal o ato foi espalhafatoso, aqui na província a conspiração foi silenciosa. A eleição para a mesa diretora da assembleia corria no clima de já ganhou pelo seleto grupo Brandão. Do outro lado estava o desacreditado Othelino Neto que trabalhou silenciosamente no queria seria um dos maiores vultos políticos da história do Estado e ele estava tão certo da vitória que levou a família para comemorar a queima de fogos.
Mas o outrora traidor acabou sendo traído, pelo menos dois deputados apagaram o pavio, não se ouviu o barulho dos fogos e a votação terminou empatada com a atual presidente ganhando por idade a disputa.
Entre as muitas narrativas a que mais se aproxima da realidade é que o governador Carlos Brandão recebeu o mais duro dos recados, cumprir palavras e acordos políticos garantem longevidade no poder com bons mandatos, ainda mais com quem firmou a palavra.
Qualquer coisa diferente disso são apenas narrativas dos incendiários que circundam o poder em busca de mais espaço no governo atirando verborragias ao vento.
